Six Cauliflower Dishes The Whole Family Will Adore

Transform cauliflower beyond the veggie tray with one of these great recipes

Food trend predictions have been saying it’s going to be “the year of the cauliflower” for, well, years.

Whether it’s on-trend or not, cauliflower is nutritious, tasty, and surprisingly inexpensive. And yet it is still an underdog when it comes to commonly used vegetables. Pick some up and try one of these unexpected twists on cauliflower for your next family meal—you won’t regret it.

Cauliflower crust pizza

It makes sense to be skeptical about this one, but if you have a pizza lover in the house—yourself included—it’s an absolute must try. This recipe at The Lucky Penny packs veggie goodness in place of filling starch, and works (and tastes) better than you’d ever expect.

Cauliflower rice

Cauliflower “rice” gets a fair bit of attention in Paleo cooking circles, but tastes amazing whether you’re grain-free or not. Another way to add extra vegetables to your dinner table, this particular recipe from The Clothes Make the Girl skips the microwaving step that many other recipes use.

Whole roasted cauliflower

This spice-rubbed (note: not spicy, just flavourful) variety over at Ricotta & Radishes is one of many possible takes on the whole-roasted cauliflower. It can be served quartered (as an adult portion), as a side—or even used as a vegan substitute for a roast or turkey. Play around with the herbs and spices of your choosing.

Buffalo cauliflower

This is a take on Buffalo wings, uses cauliflower and is a great vegetarian option. If your kids don’t like spice, swap the hot sauce for a milder barbeque sauce in this easy-to-customize recipe from Recipe Geek.

Cauliflower Mac ‘n Cheese

Cauliflower only adds to the deliciousness of classic mac ‘n’ cheese, which is always better homemade than from the box. Indulge on this healthy take on comfort food from ifoodreal.

Crispy parmesan cauliflower steaks

As the Oh My Veggies recipe mentions right away, there’s not much steak-like about this dish. You can think of them for a meatless meal in place of a crusted chicken breast, or serve a smaller portion as a side in place of potato.
