How To Plan The Perfect Easter Egg Hunt

Our tips on how to put together a great egg hunt this Easter

The Easter Bunny is on his way and kids around the world are getting ready to fill their baskets with chocolate eggs, marshmallow chicks and a toy bunny, or two. We all know that the Easter Bunny is a busy guy, so here are a few tips to help lighten his load by planning your own Easter egg hunt!

Keep Age In Mind

Everyone loves chocolate and treats! An egg hunt is perfect for any age group, but it is important to tailor your hunt to the kids that will be attending. For younger kids, make sure the eggs are in places they can reach; for toddlers, you may want to just lay the eggs out on the grass or the floor. If you have older kids, try to find more tricky places to make it more exciting for them.

Set Up A Boundary

Keep the chaos contained and organized by setting out a specific area for the kids to search for the eggs. This will help keep them on track as well as allowing you to keep a watchful eye on everyone during the festivities.

Keep Track Of Your Hiding Places

The only thing worse than realizing a little too late that an Easter egg went unclaimed is coming to this realization because you have melted chocolate all over your pants/carpet/couch. Keep a list of where all the harder-to-find eggs are, so you can retrieve any unfound eggs at the end of the hunt.

Buy A Variety Of Eggs

You may want to avoid an excess of chocolate at Easter, so consider buying different kinds of eggs to keep the hunt going longer. Plastic eggs are perfect and come in lots of bright colours that make them fun and easy to find.

Cater To Your Kids

Every kid has a favorite kind of treat or toy they are hoping to get at Easter time. Make sure you hide a special treat for each kid to make the hunt a little extra special.

Invite The Easter Bunny

What could be better than a personal appearance from the Easter Bunny? Rent a bunny costume and have someone dress up for the day. Kids will love having a chance to say hello and just imagine the cute photo opportunities!

Have A Plan B

Don’t let the weather ruin your Easter plans. Make sure that you have a back-up plan if your egg hunt is scheduled to be outside. Make the most of the space you have by using your garage, basement and any other covered areas in and around your home.

Follow these tips and you are sure to have a bunch of happy kids with baskets full of eggs this Easter.
