Our Favourite Shows For Your Toddler

6 toddler-friendly shows that teach as well as entertain

While letting your kids watch hours of television each day isn’t ideal, a small amount of screen time can be a good thing if the shows you choose offer an educational component. We’re sharing a few of our favourite TV shows for toddlers that are both entertaining and a learning experience.

Sesame Street

Legions of toddlers have cut their TV watching teeth on this classic show featuring Cookie Monster, Big Bird, Telly, Grover and a whole host of fuzzy creatures with their human pals. From counting, spelling and reading, to lessons about healthy eating and how to be more patient, there are many reasons to have your kids spend some quality time on Sesame Street.

Curious George

This mischievous (yet well-meaning) monkey and his yellow-suited owner have been entertaining kids in book form for decades thanks to the popular stories by Margret and H.A. Rey. The two-time Daytime Emmy Award winning show is aimed at preschool viewers with a focus on introducing them to math, science and engineering.

Sid the Science Kid

As the name would suggest, Sid the Science Kid centers on science and how it’s all around us. Each show begins with Sid asking a question (as toddlers so often do) and then the question is answered during the show in a way that’s fun for kids to watch and easy for them to understand. The show aims to build on the natural curiosity of children by giving them the tools to think in a more analytical, scientific way.

Wild Kratts

If your toddler likes animals than we recommend giving them the chance to catch a few episodes of this fun and fact-filled show. In it, the Kratts brothers explore countries all over the world to check out unique animals and how they live.

See the Sea

Another interesting look at the animal kingdom (albeit with a focus on what’s underwater) is See the Sea. Each episode introduces viewers to one specific creature and how it interacts with other marine life. Kids get to learn about various fish and other sea creatures, while enjoying a look at what goes on under water.

Super Why!

This fun show is all about reading and introducing kids to the wonders of what’s on the page. Rather than simply go through the fundamentals of vocabulary, the show has a superhero spin and also incorporates familiar fairy tale characters such as Red from Little Red Riding Hood and Pig from the Three Little Pigs.
