Ryan Reynolds Tries To Put Together An IKEA Crib And Fails Adorably

He may have model good looks, a raft of blockbuster hits under his belt and be one half of one of Tinseltown’s most famous couples, but even Ryan Reynold’s gets flustered like the rest of us when faced with ready-to-assemble flat-packed furniture.
In a video shot for GQ’s October 2015 cover story, the Green Lantern star attempts to put together a Hensvik crib from IKEA. And let’s just say that he isn’t entirely successful.
Despite declaring the task at hand “easy”, and throwing aside the instructions, it isn’t long before the father of one is on the phone to IKEA. After tussling with the headboards, which promptly fall apart after construction, the Canadian actor mutters, with screws in his mouth: “IKEA. Swedish for f--ck you!” before cracking open a bottle of beer. The native Vancouverite then turns to a very Canadian solution to get the job done and the crib built…more or less.
Yes, ok—we know that Reynolds probably didn’t actually grapple with one of the Swedish furniture giants’ flat-packed cribs when wife, Blake Lively, was pregnant with their daughter, James. But the videos still gives us a giggle, and it’s nice to think that even celebrities feel our IKEA struggles.
The vid could possibly be a wink to Reynolds’ much-ballyhooed other parenting gaffe. Earlier this year, fans took to social media to reprimand Ryan after Blake Lively posted a photograph of him with their daughter James positioned incorrectly in a carrier on his chest.
Ryan took the criticism on the chin claiming on Today that as a new dad, his parenting is not flawless. He said: 'I'm a first-time dad, and that is not the first mistake I've made. I can guarantee you it won't be last. I'd never used that particular carrier before. Every other time has been perfect.'
It's refreshing to see that celebrities are not immune to the same learning curves that all new parents experience—and it’s great to think that Ryan is taking such a light-hearted approach to parenting mishaps and their media fallout.
