Fall Activities For The Whole Family

Get the family out and about this season with some fun fall activities

This fall, take advantage of the beautiful weather and head out together on an adventure. From festive hayrides to checking out the changing leaves, here are some great ideas for family fun.

Visit an orchard

Celebrate harvest season by visiting an orchard or pumpkin patch. Kids can pick their own apples from trees or have fun on a hayride. This is a great photo opp, and perfect for capturing fall memories as a family!

See the fall colours

Check out the changing leaves before they’re all gone. Take a walk around your neighbourhood or drive out to the country to take in the beautiful scenery. Make a campfire and grill some hot dogs and marshmallows or make use of your barbecue one last time before the snow hits!

Craft shows

Support local artisans by doing your Christmas shopping at a local crafts show. The One of a Kind Show in Toronto is a massive event drawing international exhibitors. Check Facebook or local listings for other crafts shows and flea markets for a unique way to shop for the holidays as a family.

Holiday lights

Many cities hold special celebrations in November when they light up public spaces with lights. This is a great way to celebrate the change in the weather and get geared up for the holiday season.

In Toronto

Royal Agricultural Winter Fair

Kids will love looking at farm animals or watching the spectacular Royal Horse Show. The annual event takes place the first couple weeks of November. It’s a great opportunity for kids to learn where their food comes from, and for little ones to see their favourite animals in real life.

Santa Clause Parade

The annual Santa Clause Parade is a yearly favourite for people living in or near Toronto. Dress up warm, bring snacks, hot chocolate in a thermos, and a chair or mat in case you get tired from standing. Santa has gone high tech, and now you can track his arrival using the Santa Parade iPhone app, so you can let your kids know when Santa will be coming to town!
