Co-sleeping may no longer be recommended, but we all want to keep our little one as close to us as possible.
Not only does it make both parents and baby feel safe and secure, but it also means that late night fussing can be quickly and easily sorted. And with a bedside sleeper, you can care for your baby without having to get out from under the covers!
The bedside sleeper is a popular alternative to co-sleeping, allowing you to set up a crib right by your bed. When the baby starts to fuss in the middle of the night, you simply have to reach over to calm them down.
The Mika Micky Portable Crib is one of the most popular bedside sleepers on the market, thanks to a lightweight design and adjustable height.
We know you only want the best for your baby, which is why we’ve taken a close look at the Mika Micky Bedside Sleeper. In this review, you can find out what we like about the bedside sleeper, what we didn’t like, and whether it’s worth the money.

- Mesh side panels are safe for the baby, and give at-a-glance care for parents.
- With 7 adjustable height levels, the bassinet can fit onto almost any bed.
- Built-in wheels aid portability, while the added brakes give security. The sleeper can act as both a bedside bassinet and a stand-alone crib.

- The drop down side panel grants immediate access to the baby, while keeping them safe in the crib.

- Additional side pockets mean you can keep your little one’s favorite things to hand, for middle of the night soothing made easy.
Mika Micky Cons
- The sleeper is heavy, which reduces the portability.
- Folding down the sleeper isn’t quite as easy as it could be. And once folded down, it’s very difficult to get into the included carry case.
- There are no retractable feet.
- No automatic soothing features such as vibration, rocking, or soothing noises. While this isn’t necessarily a negative, and does help keep the price down for the crib, it would be fantastic if Mika Micky would release a premium upgrade for parents who were interested.

What We Like About The Mika Micky Bedside Sleeper
Clever Design Gives Easy Access To The Sleeping Baby
What everyone loves about a bedside sleeper is that it allows you to immediately soothe your baby without having to get out of bed.
All new parents will understand that sometimes when a baby cries in the night, all they need is a quick soothe, and they’ll be right back to sleep.
But as much as we love our little ones, getting out of bed just to give them a quick pat of reassurance is a struggle at 1am (and 2am, and 3am…).
With the Mika bedside sleeper, you can simply reach over and make sure everything is okay.
A bedside sleeper isn’t just relaxing for the baby. For parents, having your little one so close at night can be incredibly soothing.
It means that if you’re feeling stressed or anxious, you don’t have to worry about waking your child. You can simply lie there, listen to their breathing, and drift off to sleep yourself.
And if you want some extra reassurance, you simply need to glance over, and you’ll see your baby is doing just fine.
The Mika Micky really easily attaches to the side of the bed, and the half-lowering side wall is an excellent feature. Once the wall is dropped, you can see exactly how the baby is doing, and see to their needs.
Whether they need a soothing touch or a nighttime feed, you can do it with minimal effort. This is helped along by another excellent feature from Mika Micky: the height adjustment.
One of the stand-out features of the Mika Micky Bedside Sleeper is the variety of height adjustments. There are 7 options for height adjustments, raising the bed between 13″ from the floor, and 21″ from the floor.
This allows the bedside sleeper to dock onto the parent’s beds from between 18″ and 26″ of height.
There are also some great benefits to this height adjustability. Firstly, it gives parents more flexibility with where they place the bedside sleeper.
The obvious place is right next to your bed, but the bassinet can be moved around and remains comfortable to use. You can keep the bedside sleeper nice and low, for easily glancing in from across the room.
Or you can raise it high, for easiest access.
Secondly, it makes Mika Micky a better choice for more parents. Some bedside sleepers only have a limited height level, which means they aren’t right for all beds.
The 7 height adjustments for the Mika Micky gives it an incredible range, and more parents can feel the benefits of the bedside sleeper.
Comfort For New Moms
A bedside sleeper is a popular choice for many parents, but it’s particularly useful for moms that are breastfeeding, have reduced mobility, or recovering from a C-section.
For parents with reduced mobility, getting up for nighttime soothing can be more than just an inconvenience. With the bedside sleeper, parents can quickly respond to their babies’ needs without putting a strain on their own bodies.
All forms of giving birth put strain on the body, and new moms need some time to recover. Those who have had a c-section may find even simple tasks, like picking their baby from or placing them in the crib, can feel excessively difficult.
With a bedside sleeper, these tasks become much easier and less stressful. Every time your baby starts fussing in the night, you won’t have to get up and out of bed, walk over to the crib, and bend down to check on your baby.
Instead, you can stay comfortable, provide the care your child needs, and fall back to sleep.
This extra comfort is also a help when it comes to breastfeeding. If you’re nursing your baby, then you know how important it is to get them into position for feeding. But it can be a struggle to lift your baby, especially if you’ve only just woken up.
With the Mika Micky, you can gently lift your baby into position, without needing to move around the room. It’s easier to get the baby into a safe and secure hold, without having to jostle them as you get in and out of place.
When you’re finished, you can either return the baby to the crib and go back to sleep, or start your day.
We can’t say for sure just how comfortable Mika Micky is for babies, but we’ve found that they can certainly get a good night’s sleep! And in our testing, the Mika Micky proved to be a top choice for comfort.
Safety And Comfort For Baby
Safety is a key feature of any bassinet or crib, and the Mika Micky does well on this front. It has been tested to meet safety standards and meets the requirements of CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act).
The Mika Micky has passed the US Consumer Product Safety Commission’s rigorous testing program. They’ve also continuously worked to improve the Mika Micky Bedside Sleeper since it first came onto the market.
For example, the mesh side paneling has been extended down the side of the bed, for extra protection if your baby rolls over.
Mesh side panels are a necessity of the bassinet, so if your baby rolls over in the night, they can still breathe.
Mesh also allows parents to quickly check on the baby, and see that they’re sleeping soundly. The fiber-fill mattress supports the baby, giving them a firm but comfortable base to sleep on.
The wheels allow parents to move the bassinet around the house, but they can be a safety concern.
However, Mika Micky has been sure to include brakes, so that the crib stays anchored in place. With an H-shape construction and the brakes on, you can bump into the Mika Micky, and it won’t move.
If we do have one issue with the Mika Micky, it’s that it isn’t quite as portable as you might hope. It can be folded and disassembled quite quickly, but it still has some bulk.
Moving the crib around the house isn’t difficult, but you may shy away from traveling with it.
Once you have the crib collapsed, travel should be made easier with the included bag. But, many have found that actually getting the crib into the bag is not an easy task.
If you’re a parent who likes to travel, the Mika Micky Bedside Sleeper may not be the best choice.
Easy Set Up And Use
The wheels of the Mika Micky contribute to one key feature that we really love: it can be moved around the house. This means that when the baby falls asleep in the day, you can simply wheel them into the room with you.
Without portability, many parents have to buy separate cribs for different areas of the house. Not only is this not cost-effective, but it’s also inconvenient. No one wants half the house taken over by a number of cribs that rarely get used.
With the Mika Micky though, you can keep your baby in the room with you. The wheels allow for easy movement, while the brakes keep the bassinet secure once it’s in place.
And while the Mika Micky might be a bedside sleeper, it can also be used as a stand alone. The large mesh walls and firm base allow your baby to snooze happily away from the parent bed.
Setting up the Mika Micky Bassinet is pretty straightforward.
To put it very simply, you need to unfold the frame, screw in the support and safety bars, add the cover, add the locking bars, insert the mattress, fit everything together, and finish with the wheels.
This is a tool free setup, so you won’t need to buy anything extra just to get the baby bed installed.
For prospective parents, easy setup isn’t exactly a necessity, but it is a huge bonus. There are enough things on your mind at this point that you don’t want to waste a day just trying to get the sleeper in place.
When it’s time to clean, the easy wipe down materials of the Mika Micky crib can save both time and effort.
You won’t have to worry about cleaning the entire thing every time there’s an accident, and you’ll be able to remove stains with ease.
It’s also easy to completely remove the fabrics of the crib when you need to give it a proper clean. In just a couple of minutes, you can get the crib off the frame, and ready to be washed.
Mika Micky also sells a range of fitted, waterproof sheets. Made with a 100% cotton surface that’s soft and gentle on delicate baby skin, these fitted sheets are an excellent accompaniment to the crib.
The waterproof layer will keep your little one dry during the night, and stop leaks from soaking through to the mattress. We recommend owning several sets of fitted sheets, so that you always have some ready to go.
Check out the beautiful star patterned fitted sheets here, or these adorable Little Monster sheets.
If you don’t like any of the designs from Mika Micky, the good news is that plenty of other fitted sheets will fit the standard size of the mattress!
Final Thoughts: Do We Recommend The Mika Micky Bedside Sleeper?
Yes, we do recommend the Mika Micky Bedside Sleeper! There’s so much to love about the Mika Micky Bedside Sleeper, but our favorite feature is the way it offers a safe alternative to co-sleeping.
For nervous new parents, we found that having the Mika Micky so close was incredibly reassuring, and allowed us to provide a better level of care.
The Mika Micky is a great choice if you’re looking for a portable bassinet that’s easy to move around the house.
The wheels and simple frame help you navigate the bedside sleeper to where you need to be, and it even folds down and packs away into a travel bag. Our only complaint with the Mika Micky was that it was a little bulky for trips away.
We think that the Mika Micky is the perfect solution for parents who want to sleep next to their babies, without putting them at risk.
With mesh sides and a drop-down wall, it’s a safe option for parents who like to keep their baby as close as possible.
And these exceptional bedside sleeper features means the Mika Micky is an ideal choice for parents with reduced mobility, and c-section moms!
