Free Things You Can Do for Your Partner This Christmas

Gift ideas for your spouse that don't cost a thing (except time!)

Finding the perfect give for your significant other can be a daunting task no matter what your situation is.  Finding that one thing that shows that you care can be harder than finding a needle in a hay stack sometimes. When you throw in life complications like time or money issues it can make finding a gift nearly impossible. Luckily when giving a gift, especially over the holidays it is truly the thought that counts and you can make gifts and memories without spending much at all.

Coupon book

It may be cliché by now, but the coupon book is the best free gift there is out there. It is simple yet meaningful and incredibly versatile.  It can be big or small, and filled with ideas that suit your relationship specifically.  For a few ideas try massages, bedroom ideas, or time off from the kids.

Write a letter

Write a meaningful letter to your partner. It can be filled with poems, memories, adoration, or a mixture of all of them. Words can go a long way especially if you are telling your partner how much you appreciate what they do and how attracted to them you are.

Use photos

Use photos any way you can.  Most people have digital cameras and computers and those two can be a powerful combination for a free gift.  You can make a collage, scrap book, story book of an event in your life, calendar, slideshow or pretty much anything else you can imagine.

Make a video

Make an interview video of your children saying how much they love their mommy or daddy. Ask them questions like what are his or her best qualities, why they think they are the best mom or dad. At the end of the video turn the camera on yourself to answer the same questions.

Get crafty

If you are crafty use things you can find around the house to make personalized Christmas tree ornaments.  You can use practically anything from egg cartons to old CDs.  No matter how they turn out your partner will love the sentiment and this gift can become a yearly tradition.

Give the gift of time

Do something out of the ordinary for both of you. Some communities offer free classes in hobbies like art or cooking. If these classes aren’t available try doing something outdoors like a hike through a state park or going on a long bike ride to a quite romantic area. The gift of couple time is more valuable than some people realize.

Give memories

Make a memory jar out of an empty mason jar or coffee can. Cut little squares of paper and write your favorite memories of the two of you to put in the jar. This can be left at home or taken to the office so when your partner is having a challenging day he or she can reach into the jar for some smiles.

Get detailed

For most parents, their car is like a playground, office, dinner table, cab and about a million other things rolled into one. When he or she is not paying attention steal their car for an hour or two to clean it inside and out. A good detailing and maybe an air freshener will go a long way as a gift.

Give a family tree

Get ahold of your partner’s family to make a family tree. Talk to as many relatives as possible, this will allow you to make a wonderful and extensive family tree for your partner. Make sure to record family stories, events, and anything else of historical significance to add some backstory along with the tree itself.
