The Best Of Disney: Boys Baby Names

We’ve rounded up our ten favourite boys’ names from a few Disney classics

It’s hard to be a parent and not watch a few (hundred) Disney movies. And most of us watched them through our own childhoods. Why not embrace the Disney phenomenon by choosing a Disney-inspired name for your baby boy? Expecting a girl? Be sure to check out our Disney picks for girls!

Eric

Better known as Prince Eric from the 1989 classic, Little Mermaid, Eric is an Old Norse name meaning “eternal ruler”. It is also the most popular Scandinavian boys’ name in North America. Still at #118, this powerful name doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. It can also be spelled Erik.

Finn

Finn McMissile is a crafty British Spy from Cars 2 and he wears this trendy name proudly. An Irish name meaning “fair”, it is packed full of an enormous amount of energy and charm. Finn MacCool is the greatest hero of Irish mythology, who was said to be a warrior with mystical powers. What little boy couldn’t get behind that?

Jake

From the 1990’s The Rescuers Down Under, Jake is the fearless kangaroo-mouse with an amazing Aussie accent! Jake is the short form of Jacob and seems to have a happy-go-lucky vibe. While Jacob is a top name, Jake itself sits at #166.

Remy

It might seem a bit strange that so many of our suggestions are for names that don’t actually belong to humans, but come on, this is Disney! So yes, Remy from Ratatouille is number four on our list. This name also belongs to a fifth century saint and is currently being revived for both boys and girls.

Andy

If Woody and Buzz are a bit too “different” for you, then Andy is the perfect tribute name for the Toy Story fan. Sometimes used as a nickname for Andrew or Anthony, Andy means “strong and manly”. And if your son can be anywhere near as loyal as this Andy, he’s on the right track.

Timothy

Yup, we’ve got another mouse for you! The 1941 classic Dumbo brought us Timothy, the circus mouse who is Dumbo’s best friend and mentor. The name comes from religious roots, meaning “honouring God” and has the bonus of the super easy short form, Tim.

Flynn

A more contemporary choice, from 2010’s Tangled, Flynn Rider is a bandit who eventually marries Rapunzel. A charming Irish surname, the name is slowly, but surely, gaining popularity thanks to the above namesake as well as some celebrity supporters (Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr named their son Flynn).

Sebastian

Everyone’s favourite red crab Sebastian (another entry from The Little Mermaid), is another great choice for any little boy. It is a classic yet unconventional choice and currently sits at #45—it has also seen widespread success across the world.

James

He might be the villain but Captain James Hook from Peter Pan sure had a great name! It is a classic name that has lasted through the ages. Not only has it latest, it has flourished as a stylish and popular name, even now. Currently sitting pretty at #13.

Arthur

In 1963, Disney brought a tale of Medieval fantasy to the screen—The Sword in the Stone. And we were introduced to Arthur, the would-be king. A Top 20 name from 1880 through 1926, Arthur was a bit neglected in more recent years. But thanks to stylish parents like Selma Blair, whose son is named Arthur Saint, the name is finally getting its second wind.
