Mother’s Day Celebrations For Expectant Moms

Celebrate your last pre-baby Mother’s Day… or as we like to call it Mother-to-be Day!

Mother’s Day is the one day a year dedicated to honouring mothers, a day when her wishes are given at least as much consideration as the other members of the family. Mother’s Day is also an opportunity to thank and pamper mothers-to-be. An expectant mother should not be overlooked on this important holiday as she prepares for her journey into motherhood. So go on, celebrate Mother’s Day by indulging in and celebrating your pregnancy.

Give Into Your Cravings

One great way to celebrate the day is by dining out at your favourite restaurant and truly savouring each delectable, hot bite. Once baby arrives eating food while it’s hot, no matter what the fare, will seem like a treat. Order desert, or skip the restaurant and simply spring for the ice cream, pastry or any other item you have been trying to convince yourself you don’t need.

Have A Spa Day

Pregnancy aches and pains can wreak havoc on your entire body, what better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than treating yourself to a relaxing pre-natal massage. While you are there why not also take advantage of the opportunity to have someone who can actually see your toes paint them for you, by adding on a manicure and pedicure to the experience. Your back and feet will thank you.

Go On A Date

Once your bundle arrives, your life will become full of love, joy, cuddles and a lot less spare time, so the opportunity for date night may not roll around for months. Go dancing, catch the latest chick flick, or even take a quiet stroll. Choose an activity you enjoy, and one you may not get to experience as just the two of you for a while.

Take A Babymoon

Babymoons have been gaining popularity over the years and for good reason. Babymoons are an opportunity for parents-to-be to have one last trip together before their family expands. The trip can be as elaborate as a weeklong beach vacation or as simple as one night at a sweet bed and breakfast. The point is to use it as chance to connect with your partner and celebrate what’s to come.

Create A Memory

Do something special to commemorate your very first Mother’s Day as a pregnant mama by celebrating your pregnancy. Make a belly cast, splurge on a 3D/4D ultrasound, host a gender reveal or announce your joyous news to family and friends.

Take Time For Yourself

Pregnancy can be a whirlwind, with the physical changes your body is going through coupled with the excitement and anxiousness surrounding the experience. Use Mother’s Day to focus on yourself. Read the book you’ve been meaning to get around to, take a luxurious (not too hot) bath, recruit your partner to give you a back and/or foot massage, or catch up on your favourite T.V. show. Choose a relaxing activity that you enjoy, one that might not be high on the list of priorities once baby arrives.
