10 Best Halloween Crafts For Kids

Creepy and cute crafts you can make at home together

It’s October and time to get creepy, and crafty. Here are some of our Halloween favourites to get you in the ghoulish spirit.

Black Bat Mini Pinata

Easy to make using supplies you’re likely to have on-hand, these little bats will surely impress. Make them without the candy inside as a decoration, or fill with treats or orange and black confetti as a party activity.

Masking Tape Mummy

Mommy, meet mummy. This super simple activity will be fun even for the youngest of kids, who can’t seem to get enough of playing with tape.

Paint Chip Halloween Characters

A more sophisticated looking craft you’ll want to show off on Pintrest for sure. For younger kids, you can get the shapes cut out in advance, or have older kids do it themselves.

Paper Plate Spiders

These spooky spiders can add some colour to your Halloween décor. Younger kids can paint their plates using sponges or sponge brushes, while older kids may want to use brushes and add patterns.

Jack-O’-Lantern Jars

Set these out on your porch or window sill on Halloween night, or skip the battery-operated tea light and use as a pencil holder at home.

Candy Corn Mosaic

There are a number of variations of this simple craft. You can substitute white crayon for chalk, have kids tear up the paper rather than cutting it—or try it with coloured tissue paper, crumpled up or flat.

Potato Stamp Skulls

There is a potato stamp appropriate for pretty much any holiday it seems. Try these skulls out to decorate treat bags, or with fabric paint (supervised, of course) on shirts or tote bags. A pumpkin variation might be a simpler choice for carving—go with what works for you, your kids will love to do the stamping whichever template you choose.

Egg Carton Bat

These bats are just too cute, and made out of easy to find supplies. Make a few or a whole bat cave of them. (You’ll want to start using up some eggs for the occasion now.)

Paper Plate Spider Webs

Kids seem to love lacing, and it’s good for developing fine motor skills—a win-win situation that leaves you with a creepy spider web to boot!

Monster Mobile

So cute, so occasion-appropriate! Add some purple and green to your usual black and orange with these guys. Make a bunch of one or try them all out.
