Celebrate Hanukkah with these fun dreidel games and apps

Next to the Menorah, the dreidel is one of the most recognizable symbols of Hanukkah. We found six great dreidel games on iTunes to help celebrate Hanukkah with your little ones and carry on the centuries-old tradition for generations to come.

Chanuka Dreidel is a fun and basic game that mimics the real dreidel game. You have the choice of playing against the computer or up to four of your friends at the same time.  Players can use gelt that they earn in the game to get other in app bonuses.  The music can get a little annoying but it is easy enough to mute.  The best part is this game is completely free.

Dreidel Labyrinth is another free game that is a lot of fun. Although it is not a traditional dreidel game it still incorporates all of the symbols of the dreidel and the spinning. Kids will have tons of fun directing a ball through a maze and spinning the dreidel in order to match symbols and complete the maze. There are many different levels for plenty of game play.

Super Dreidel is a fun game that can be played by 2 to 8 players. It has three different versions including traditional, vegas, and turbo for tons of fresh game play.  You can even select the number of turns and how much gelt each player starts with. The game does most of the work including keeping track of every players gelt so you get all of the fun and none of the hassle. The game costs $0.99 USD but it is well worth that price.

iGevalt There are a handful of dreidel simulators but iGevalt is probably the best. At $0.99 USD it is less cost effective than many of the free simulators, but it works and looks better. With this and any of the dreidel simulators it is important to note that it is only the dreidel and not a full game that keeps score.

Chai on Chanukah is a great app for small children. It comes with a little bit of everything including a crude but colorful dreidel.  It also has a menorah to light and a fun little game with the voice of a grandmother saying funny things.  It even has an audio book explaining the story of Chanukah. The best part is it is free to download making it the perfect app for kids.
