This Year’s Most Popular Baby Names Are In and There’s A Definite Trend

Nameberry has released its top names of 2024 so far.

Given our obsession with pop culture, it’s easy to believe that the weird and wonderful names of celebrity offspring are all the rage.

But it’s far more likely that your daughter goes to school with an Isla than a Blue Ivy.

Nameberry has released its top names of the year (so far), and it appears that the classic name is having a moment.

Perhaps Her Royal Highness Charlotte is still rubbing on on moms and dads choosing a moniker for their own little princess (whose name made it in the top three for girls).

Or maybe it’s the fact that celebrities like George and Amal Clooney are naming their baby’s much more traditional names, like new twins Ella and Alexander.

The girls’ names remained largely unchanged, with the very classic Olivia, Amelia, and Charlotte all retaining their respective first, second and third positions from 2016.

However, the boys’ names had quite a reshuffle this year. Nearly a fifth of all names in the top 100 are new for 2017, with names like Charlie, Everett, and Dante all moving up the list.

While Ezra is still in the running at number 4, a new name has stolen the top stop for the boys.

Asher was crowned #1, up from 71 in 2016.

Some other new boys’ names to make the top 10 include Theodore (Ivanka Trump’s son’s name) and Jasper.

Other classic girls’ names in the top 10 include Evelyn, Penelope, and Eleanor. Other surprisingly traditional names to make the girls’ Top 100 were Celeste, Ines, Fiona, Saskia, and Alexandra.

The baby name site calculates the scores by looking at traffic data to gauge which names were viewed the most in the first half of the year.

So, did your baby’s name make the list?
